"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much" - Helen Keller
I am so very excited about this post. Today I am introducing the man behind Janae Rose Photography. Meet Hugo (aka my wonderful husband.) Hugo started helping me out last year as a second shooter, personal assistant, and full time encourager. I couldn't have done it without him, and I am beyond grateful for his constant support. Hugo is organized, driven, creative, down right awesome, and totally hilarious. He is quick to help me find the right lighting, hold my enormous bags, keep us on schedule, clean our equipment, and take amazing pictures of the all the fine gentlemen at weddings. Overall he always knows what I need at just the right time. I joke that he is my secret weapon, considering that before I had him by my side I was doing considerably less work (it's true though.) That is why I am so pleased to announce that Janae Rose Photography is no longer just me, it's us! That's right Hugo is official member of the Janae Rose Photography team. (WOOT WOOT)
So in honor of the occasion I sat down and did a little interview with Hugo, so for now I'm going let him take over, and tell you a little more about himself.
When did you first hear about Janae Rose Photography?
I first heard about Janae Rose Photography in 2011, when I met Janae in Guatemala, and she mentioned that there were some people waiting for her to take pictures of them back at home. I didn’t know it was an actual business, so I looked her up and was amazed by her work. It is such an awesome business.
Tell us more about how you became a member of the Janae Rose Photography team, and what your specific role and jobs are with Janae Rose Photography.
I became a member of Janae Rose Photography when Janae gave me a camera and asked me to take pictures of the groomsmen at a wedding. I didn’t have a clue what I was doing or how was I suppose to do it.
Basically my role is to photograph groomsmen and be the second photographer on wedding days, capture a different perceptive using different lenses. Now with more then a dozen weddings under my belt, I do have a clue what I am doing and I enjoy it.
When did you first become interested in photography?
When I first had access to a digital camera, not even a professional camera, my first cell phone had a digital camera, it was a terrible camera but it made me want to take pictures.
What do you enjoy most about working with your wife (aka, me)?
My favorite part is that she gets to be the boss, and she is really good at it. I enjoy working as a team.
Tell us a more about yourself.
I was born and raised in Guatemala. I moved to the States about a year ago, pursuing the love of my life. I like adventures and traveling. I like cars and anything that goes fast. I speak Spanish and English and I would love to learn more languages. I enjoy making memories and capturing moments with my camera.
Yay! You both are so wonderful. I am so happy to have you in my life!
